Preface
China is the only country in the world with over 5000 years of history. It is home to a quarter of the world’s population and it boasts beautiful landscapes and a marvelous civilization. In the last five decades, China has drawn great attention from the world, astonishing the whole world with the incredible economic growth of the last thirty years and reaching the peak of its popularity with the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
More than one hundred years ago, Prince Borghese drove from Beijing to Paris, starting a new chapter of our history where men use motor vehicles to travel across continents; his venture amazed the whole world and will be remembered forever. More than one century later, in 2011, another great event of classic cars was held in this ancient country. Classic cars enthusiasts from all over the world got behind the wheel of their jewels and drove from Beijing, across Tianjin, Jinan, Xuzhou, Hefei, Nanjing, Hangzhou to arrive in Shanghai after 6 days and with 1600km in their rearview. This event is the first of its kind in the Eastern part of the world. It is a grand competition that amazed the world in 2011 and then expanded its scale in the following two years; in 2014, 4C will make a new breakthrough and be even more splendid, while more annual editions will keep charming the Middle Kingdom in the golden autumn season.

The Chinese ancient capital, thousands of years of Eastern culture, the spectacular Bird’s Nest and Water Cube, the Great Wall, the streaming waters of the Yangtze River, Chinese delicacies, fragrant wine, genuine coffee, refined watches, elegant clothes… our event is all this and more. 4C opens its doors and invites friends from all over the world to enjoy this extraordinary “China Festival”.
A brilliant country, a wondrous world, a high-end event, the ultimate experience. Accept the invitation of the Great Wall of China; answer the charming call of Eastern culture; be a part of this international festival where cars and modern trends meet. The Organizing Committee invites all friends from the four corners of the world to join in this sumptuous feast!

History
The history of 4C, an event created by the highest international authority in the field of classic cars, Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens (FIVA), and Classic Vehicle Union of China(CVUC), begins in 2011. Still today, this is the first and only high-end international competition of classic cars in China, and has been acknowledged in the field as the biggest and highest-level brand of “automotive & trends” events in the Eastern part of the world.
About the first edition. Time: 18 - 23 September 2011; route: Beijing - Shanghai across the golden Chinese hinterland; figures: 32 classic vehicles, 123 participants from 12 different countries. For the first time, an international high-level classic car rally was held in China. This event opened the door to world-class top-level classic vehicle competitions in China and drew great attention both at home and abroad, especially in the cities along the route.
About the second edition. Time: 7 - 15 October 2012; route: Beijing - Shanghai route across the golden Chinese hinterland. Figures: 41 classic vehicles, 146 participants from 16 different countries. Many first-class auto manufacturers participated with their vehicles: Volkswagen, Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche, Brabus, Land Rover and Jaguar. Distinguished personalities, famous representatives of the automotive field and high-level brands all participated in the event in different ways.

The rally attracted the attention of different categories of Chinese media; more than 400 media agencies including CCTV all reported on it. 30 agencies followed along the whole route and published updates on all aspects of the event. The great media affluence as well as the considerable length, quantity and accuracy of the articles set a new record of publications for a single event in the automotive field.
About the third edition. Time: 9 - 21 October 2013; figures: 51 vehicles, 186 Chinese and foreign participants from 22 different countries.
The Divine Land followed our journey with curious eyes. Once more, the motorcade left from Beijing, then touched the cities of Tianjin, Qingdao, Lianyungang, Nanjing and Hangzhou, and finally arrived in Shanghai. In the hundreds of cities, towns and villages along the route, more than 2,000,000 people admired this spectacular sight.
The splendid 4C was full of surprises; its content was richer and more exciting than in 2012. On 10-11 October, all classic vehicles gathered in the first commercial street of China, Wangfujing (Beijing), to be admired by more than 600,000 visitors. On 12 October, the Opening Ceremony took place at the Water Pass Great Wall; on the same day, the convoy arrived in Tianjin after driving along the Haihe River at the heart of the city. On 14 October, the vehicles paraded along the coastline of Qingdao and were put on display at the Olympic Sailing Center; on the following day, they left the Center after a splendid ceremony. On 16 October, the motorcade arrived in Nanjing and was welcomed with a ritual in the style of the Ming Dynasty. On 18 October, the Closing and Awards Ceremony took place in Shanghai, while on the following day there was a parade along the Huangpu River and the “Concours on the Bund”. On 20 October, in cooperation with a local automotive music festival, the vehicles were exhibited at the Shanghai Automotive Bolan Park. These numerous thrilling activities were delicately combined to convey an overwhelming and breathtaking sensation.
4C was a contest of elegance and beauty where international brands gathered together. International car manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Brabus, Porsche, Bentley, Volkswagen, Aston Martin, Volvo, Jaguar and Maserati participated with their classic vehicles.
At the same time, 4C also boasted the presence of many distinguished personalities and big names. Among them, the president of FIVA, Mr. Horst Brüning and spouse; the president of AVD/KAC, His Serene Highness Ludwig Prince zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg and spouse; the president of the ANF in Slovenia, Mr. Janko Uratnik and spouse; the General Secretary of the ANF of Cyprus, Ms. Ersi Economides; the CEO of Volkswagen Group (China), Prof. Dr. Jochem Heizmann; Le Mans legendary driver, Mr. Jacky Ickx; the founder of Bertha Benz Memorial Route e.V., Mr. Edgar Meyer.
4C being also a focal point of media’s attention, extracts of the event were broadcast massively and an impressive number of reports were written about it. Hundreds of media agencies published news about 4C, while more than 60 agencies followed along the whole route. The renewed huge media affluence as well as the considerable length, quantity and accuracy of the articles once more set the record of publications for a single event in the automotive field. Beijing
Beijing, also known as Peking, is the capital of the People's Republic of China and one of the most populous cities in the world. The city is the country's political, cultural, and educational center. The metropolis, located in northern China, borders Hebei Province to the North, West, South, and a small section to the East, and Tianjin Municipality to the South-East.

Beijing, one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, is an ancient city with a long history. Few cities in the world have served as long as the political and cultural centre of an area as immense. Since the city has been the heart of China’s history for centuries, there is scarcely a major building of any age in Beijing that does not have at least some national historical significance.

Tianjin
Tianjin is one of the four municipalities of China. Its name means 'the place where the emperor crossed the river'. In recent years, Tianjin has received more and more attention from tourists both in China and abroad thanks to its numerous travel resources and rich history.

Blessed with a variety of tourist attractions, Tianjin is a good place to explore; the top ten attractions in Tianjin are known as Jinmen Shijing.
Getting in and out of the city is convenient because of the well-planned transportation system. If you plan to arrive by air, Tianjin Binhai International Airport offers excellent service. Planes have routes that reach most of the major cities in China and also cities in Europe and America. Various hotels, guesthouses and hostels can also meet your different needs. In addition, there are all types of entertainment available to relax both your body and mind.

Qingdao
Located in the southeast part of Shandong Province, Qingdao is a beautiful seaside city with clear air and enchanting sea view. Bordered by the Yellow Sea on two sides, it has the largest bathing beach in Asia and produces Qingdao Beer. To the East of the city, across the Yellow Sea, lie Korea and Japan, making Qingdao an important port for international trade. The city also has a great deal of European architecture. The red roofs, green trees, blue sea, and azure sky form a bright and colorful picture here.
Qingdao’s most beautiful sights are the Eight Passes Villas, Wusi Square, the Zhan Bridge, Mt. Laoshan, No.1 Bathing Beach and Badaguan Scenic Area. The food has very distinct flavors; take this chance to enjoy the delicious seafood! Also, the city is the home of the famous Qingdao (Tsingtao) Beer. Do not forget to try it!

Huai’an
Located in the Northern Jiangsu Plain, Huai'an City borders the provinces of Anhui Province to the southwest, Yangzhou to the southeast and Suqian to the west. One of the attractions of the city is Lake Hongze, the fourth largest freshwater lake in China, occupying an area of 2,069 square kilometers and has been named "Lake of Treasures". Adjacent to the Grand Canal and other three major rivers (Huaihe, Yanhe, and Huaishu Rivers), Huai'an has a highly developed irrigation and water transportation system. The city has a population of five million and covers an area of more than 10,000 square kilometers.

Nanjing
Located in the lower Yangtze River basin and Yangtze River Delta economic zone, Nanjing has always been one of China's most important cities and is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China. Nanjing was the capital of the Republic of China before the Chinese Civil War in 1949.
The city has always attracted intellectuals from all over the country. In the Tang and Song dynasties, poets gathered in the city and wrote verses reminiscent of its luxurious past; during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the city was the official imperial examination center for the Jiangnan region, again acting as a hub where different thoughts and opinions converged and thrived.
Today Nanjing is commonly viewed as a “city of culture” and one of the more pleasant cities to live in China.
Hangzhou
Hangzhou is located close to the Eastern coast of China, in the lower reaches of the Qiantang River and at the Southern end of the Grand Canal (Beijing - Hangzhou). The distance between Hangzhou and Shanghai is 200 kilometers and the two cities are connected by railway and highway.
Hangzhou was settled as early as 4,700 years ago and gave birth to the Liangzhu Civilization. One of the seven ancient capitals and a key historical and cultural city in China, Hangzhou once was applauded as “the most splendid and luxurious city in the world" by Italian traveler Marco Polo in the 13th Century. Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province, is the center of provincial politics, economy, culture, science and education. It covers an area of 16596 km2 and has a population of 6.60 million. Hangzhou is developing at a very fast speed and ranks second among all provincial capitals in terms of economic strength. It is also one of the safest tourist cities in China.

Shanghai
Shanghai is situated on the banks of the Yangtze River Delta in Eastern China. It is the largest city in China and the eighth largest city in the world. Shanghai has a population of 18.7 million, including a transient population of 2 million.

Widely regarded as the citadel of China's modern economy, the city serves as one of the most important cultural, commercial, financial, industrial and communications centers of China. Shanghai also has one of the world's busiest ports, and has become the largest cargo port in the world.

Originally, Shanghai was a seaside fishing village but by the 20th century, it became the center of popular culture, intellectual discourse and political intrigue in the Republic of China.

Modern Shanghai has key attractions of interest to the visitor, including Sightseeing, Business centers and Shopping malls located in the People's Square and along the Huangpu River. The city continues to grow and prosper, meeting the aspirations of the 21st century, whilst retaining its proud traditions of service and hospitality. The Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Jinmao Mansion and Pudong International Airport are the modern symbols of an international metropolis, whilst the Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Grand Theatre and Shanghai City Planning Exhibition Center are evidence of the extensive and deep passion of a great city that extends a warm welcome to friends from all over the world.
A wide variety of cuisines can be found in the city. Shanghai offers a plethora of culinary delights focusing on the gourmet traditions of Beijing, Yangzhou, Sichuan and Guangzhou, as well as its own local dishes.
